WALK-OFF PT. 2: Vanderbilt at Kentucky

The Commodores visit Rupp Arena tomorrow at noon for a rematch from their home loss to the Cats two weeks ago in front of a rowdy GameDay crowd and a lot of finger wagging from Digger Phelps. This should, again, be an interesting game because Vanderbilt has plenty of talent and experience to give Kentucky trouble. However, some interesting things have happened since February 11:

  • Jeffery Taylor exploded against Ole Miss and then kind of fizzled against Georgia and South Carolina.
  • Kentucky hasn’t played a focused 40 minutes, struggling for a little while against Ole Miss and getting down big against Mississippi State before locking down and putting the Dogs away in the second half.

Kentucky is still the better team, but the statistical gaps have narrowed in the last two weeks. Kentucky’s adjusted offense and defense is about 7 points better per 100 possessions than Vandy. However, both teams are almost identical in terms of the Four Factors. Kentucky just doesn’t lose at home, however. I don’t think this is going to be a blowout win for the Cats by any means, but I do think they’ll pull away in the final 10 minutes for a 12 point victory.

More funny animal gifs later this afternoon.
